Team Policy Debate: Team policy debate involves 2 two-student teams debating a resolution.
NCFCA 2011-2012 Team Policy debate resolution is: Resolved: The United States Federal Government should significantly reform its criminal justice system.
The 2012-2013 resolution will be announced in June.
Team policy debate teaches students research, analysis, critical reasoning and clear expression. At it’s core, debate trains students to think and speak convincingly. The debate portion of our club meetings will include instruction, assignments, drills and practice. Debate requires a significant commitment to outside research and working with your debate partner as a team. Therefore students need to commit to weekly attendance at club meetings and to getting together with their debate partner outside of club time at least twice a month. Students participating in debate will be required to purchase several packets of research material and books.
Our goal is to prepare students for NCFCA debate tournaments.
See www.ncfca.org and choose the debate tab for more information.

Time Commitment: Debate research and homework will take 3-5 hours per week. This is not to be taken as a light or optional commitment. Debate is a rigorous activity.
As with any competitive activity, the more time that can be committed, the better a student will do at competition. However, each student is expected to put forth 3-5 hours per week of work to keep up with the pace of club. For those who would like to excel in competition, the time commitment will be greater and will vary depending on previous experience, understanding of the resolution, etc.
